Looking For Hannah

Looking For Hannah was a research presentation developed with students and performed at the Rose Bruford Symposium in April 2010. It was an opportunity for us to explore the themes we wanted to pursue further in Hannah An Artist in Dirt as well as engaging with students in an educative format. The students were asked to find texts that they wished to work on based around the theme of feminism within a theatrical context. How can the woman's voice today find resonance with their sisters from earlier times. The students chose a wide range of texts including songs that were spoken rather than sung. Classical, modern and foreign language pieces were performed with the actor musicians improvising a score alongside. This was a celebration of the female voice down the ages and proved very popular with both audiences and those taking part.
